Southern Water Consultations

Earlier in the summer Southern Water published a consultation paper. They asked the public to comment on their services and future plans. I made a number of comments and the link below will take you to the details but here is a summary:

Sewers can be used to heat homes:  Southern Water should commence an initiative to investigate viability and then go on to implements projects. I referred to the North Street development of over 400 houses in Lewes.
Microfibres: What research work is Southern Water carrying out to understand how we can filter out or remove microfibres from our wastewater and sewage?
Pesticides: I asked if Southern Water is producing information for farmers.
Renewable Energy:  I asked them to improve on their of 17% conversions of sites using renewable energy.
Pollution in Sea Bathing Water: I asked them to ramp up improvements to remove raw sewage outfalls and pollution in bathing waters around our coastline.

Southern Water provides water and waste water/sewage services or just waste water/sewage services in our area:

Water resources are important and I think the Conservative government in their haste to show they have measures in place to expand the number of planning permissions for house-building have not considered what water and sewage infrastructure is needed. Also the importance of up-to-date sewage treatment is an important matter as mostly our waste water goes into the sea!

  1. Re Southern Water: Glad to see your comments and agree wholeheartedly. There is the probability of 76 new houses on a south downs area in Seaford in the valley going to Bishopstone. It looks as if it will impinge on the skyline. There needs to be proper infrastructure should it go ahead. Regarding quality of sea water, I know of several surfers in Seaford Bay who regularly get stomach bugs . I should like to draw this to the attention of Southern Water – who should I contact please. Thank you for all your efforts connected to the Lewes areas. Shirley Deubert
