Earlier in the summer Southern Water published a consultation paper. They asked the public to comment on their services and future plans. I made a number of comments and the link below will take you to the details but here is a summary:
Sewers can be used to heat homes: Southern Water should commence an initiative to investigate viability and then go on to implements projects. I referred to the North Street development of over 400 houses in Lewes.
Microfibres: What research work is Southern Water carrying out to understand how we can filter out or remove microfibres from our wastewater and sewage?
Pesticides: I asked if Southern Water is producing information for farmers.
Renewable Energy: I asked them to improve on their of 17% conversions of sites using renewable energy.
Pollution in Sea Bathing Water: I asked them to ramp up improvements to remove raw sewage outfalls and pollution in bathing waters around our coastline.
Southern Water provides water and waste water/sewage services or just waste water/sewage services in our area:
Water resources are important and I think the Conservative government in their haste to show they have measures in place to expand the number of planning permissions for house-building have not considered what water and sewage infrastructure is needed. Also the importance of up-to-date sewage treatment is an important matter as mostly our waste water goes into the sea!
